Television Production (2016-2020)

At Robert Morris University I had the opportunity to get involved with my school’s television production studio. My freshman year I began working on multiple shows as a cameraman, learning the ins and outs of framing up a shot and focusing in on the talent. I also learned about the studio cameras mobility as we would change the location of the cameras to fit different stages to complement the show. Towards the end of my freshman year, I moved up into other positions such as replay operator, audio, and teleprompter. These positions gave me my first look into working within a control room environment. I quickly fell in love with this setting and pursued it going forward. The beginning of my sophomore year I received my first position as a director for Sports Talk in The Burgh, which covered all Pittsburgh related sports. With this job and the responsibilities that came along with it, I learned how to create and read run-downs and how to be a leading voice within the control room. The end of my sophomore year I was given the opportunity to produce Sports Talk in The Burgh, a show that I held close to me. All the way to my junior year, I was the producer and I absolutely loved what I did. With this job, I learned a lot about working with a crew and overall creating a thirty minute blocked show. Coming up with segment ideas and communicating with my team was something that I really enjoyed. This all leads to my senior year, where I was offered to be the RMU TV General Manager where I was responsible for the complete productions of all five shows that were put on through the entire year; two sports shows, two news shows and one entertainment show. I was also responsible for hiring crews for all shows that totaled around 15 people for each. I attended every show and would give critiques after in order to supply the producers with ways for the shows to grow and improve. This job showed and taught me how to manage large groups of people as well as being a leading voice for people to rely on.
